Courtney D. Shannon
Ms. Shannon focuses her practice in the areas of federal taxation, wills, trusts, estate planning, and estate administration. She works closely with individuals, families, fiduciaries, and business owners to develop tailored solutions that preserve wealth, minimize tax exposure, and ensure seamless transitions across generations.
Ms. Shannon's practice spans a full range of estate and tax matters, including the formation and governance of family entities, preparation of sophisticated estate plans, administration of trusts and estates, and coordination of estate-tax filings. She regularly counsels clients on gift and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax issues, closely held business succession, and after-death tax elections. Her work emphasizes clarity, compliance, creative problem-solving, and bridging the technical complexities of the Internal Revenue Code with the practical realities of family and business dynamics.
Before entering private practice, Ms. Shannon spent more than a decade in public education, teaching and leading in Florida schools. That experience honed her ability to communicate complex topics with precision and empathy which are skills that now define her approach to client counseling. Ms. Shannon's combined experience as an educator and tax practitioner allows her to translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance, empowering clients to make informed decisions with confidence.
Ms. Shannon is actively involved in professional and community initiatives focused on legal education and access to estate planning resources. She presents on topics involving fiduciary administration, entity planning, and the intersection of tax and trust law.
